Gordon Gerson
Gordon Gerson is a principal of GERSON LAW FIRM APC, concentrating in all aspects of real estate and commercial real estate finance nationwide.
Mr. Gerson has an active institutional and mortgage banking practice. For over three decades his practice has included representing clients during strong economic cycles with commercial loan originations, and during weak economic cycles with implementing loan loss mitigation strategies. His past and current engagements include some of the nation’s largest financial institutions, publicly traded and privately held mortgage banking funds, and special servicers.
Mr. Gerson’s current practice includes special emphasis on foreclosure, receivership, post foreclosure deficiencies, post foreclosure evictions, and REO sales. He leads a team of four lawyers at GLF handling these matters on a volume basis. His team operates in a manner distinctively similar to a department of a larger law firm, except on a more cost-cutting, faster turn-around basis.
Mr. Gerson frequently lectures and writes articles on issues in commercial lending and servicing. He has been recognized in recent editions of The Best Lawyers in America and Southern California Super Lawyers. He is a Fellow in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. Among his professional memberships are the Mortgage Bankers Association of America, the California Mortgage Bankers Association and REOMAC. Mr. Gerson is also a member of the board of directors of the San Diego Receivership Forum. Non-professional memberships include the Board of Visitors for University of San Diego School of Law, and the San Diego Bowl Game Association Committee (presenter of college football’s Holiday Bowl and Poinsettia Bowl).
Mr. Gerson graduated from the University of California, Berkeley (BA, 1973) and the University of San Diego School of Law (JD, 1976). He is admitted to practice in the State of California.
