Merrick (Rick) Gross

Rick Gross has more than 22 years of legal experience handling commercial real estate workouts and foreclosures throughout the U.S. He represents a diverse group of clients, including special servicers, investment banks, commercial banks, and investors in distressed real estate debt.
His practice involves handling all phases of the real estate workout and foreclosure process, whether resolved consensually or through litigation. Gross is experienced in handling forbearance agreements, workout negotiations, consensual sales through receivers, mortgage foreclosures, receiverships, lender liability claims and all other aspects of litigation involving distressed real estate.
An AV-rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, Gross was the recipient of the Florida Bar Business Law Section's Section Member of the Year Award, the Dade County Bar Association's Committee Chair Exceptional Service Award, and the American Bar Association Section of Litigation's Outstanding Subcommittee Chair Award. He has also been recognized as a leading lawyer in The Best Lawyers in America, Florida Trend's Legal Elite, and Florida Super Lawyers. He is frequently asked to speak and write articles on complex areas of the law including commercial workouts and foreclosures.
Gross received his J.D. from the Boston University School of Law and his B.A. from Emory University. Prior to joining Carlton Fields, Rick was a shareholder with Akerman Senterfitt in Miami.
