Tom Biafore

Tom Biafore is an attorney at the law firm of Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP.  Mr. Biafore focuses his practice on structured finance and servicing matters relating to commercial mortgage-backed securities with an emphasis on federal tax and compliance issues. He represents a number of servicers and special servicers on a variety of matters relating to securitized loan modifications and restructurings. Mr. Biafore has significant experience with a variety of pass-through finance vehicles including REMICs and grantor trusts. He has given numerous lectures and authored various articles relating to tax and servicing issues in structured finance, and has also represented servicing clients in successful requests to the IRS for private letter rulings on a variety of securitization issues.

Mr. Biafore has served as national CMBS and REMIC counsel to numerous servicers and special servicers. He has also testified as an expert witness in federal court and bankruptcy court in the areas of U.S. and international capital markets, REMIC matters, and call protection in U.S. Capital Markets loans.

Mr. Biafore was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America 2011 in the areas of Real Estate and Structured Finance law. He was named a 2009 and 2010 Georgia "Super Lawyer" in the area of Securities & Corporate Finance by SuperLawyers magazine.
